Fryman Canyon House
Los Angeles, CA
2,666 SF Renovation
Completed 2023
This project entailed the renovation of a Cliff May house, built in 1955.
While the structure remained generally unchanged, the finishes and surfaces had been modified by a prior owner such that many of the original details and characteristics had been obscured.
The goal was to pare back the house to look and feel consistent with the period in which it was designed, while modernizing the spaces to accommodate the needs of a family of three.
The bathrooms were upgraded, sliding glass doors were replaced and sky lights and light coves were installed creating a combination of natural and artificial light in public spaces such as the kitchen and living and dining rooms.
The house is an oasis surrounded by tall trees and lush gardens and a beautifully appointed yard.
